The Great Outdoors

Take time out to enjoy our spectacular surroundings! Pre-dinner drinks at Cradle Mountain Lodge can be an event in itself because of the sensational locations we have to enjoy champagne and delicious canapés. The boardwalk overlooking the Pencil Pine Falls and the verandah of Waldheim Day Hut, overlooking the spectacular mountainous landscape, are just two of the sensational outdoor options we have for pre-dinner drinks. If, however, an indoor area is required guests can enjoy the cosy atmosphere of the Weindorfer Lounge or alternatively use the Cradle Room.

 

The Enchanted Walk

For the ideal pre dinner adventure treat your delegates to a magical experience on our enchanted walk - a delightful twenty minute stroll through a mystical forest. Along this enchanted walk a series of miniature performances, sightings and mischief will take place!

Taste of Tasmania

A five course banquet of the freshest Tasmanian fare. It offers a perfect introduction to the wonderful tastes that can be experienced in Tasmania. In the tradition of the service styles of the past, dinner is served on banquet platters with guests helping to serve the meal. Please ask about the wonderful selection of Tasmanian wines that are available to accompany this dinner.

 

Convict Night

The Cradle Room will be converted to a convict ship ...As the guests arrive they will be transported back in time to the early days of Australia, where they find themselves aboard a convict galleon a day away from Van Diemans Land.

The Captain and crew are old hands at the Southampton to Van Diemans route and, in a Monty Python style, have developed games to make the trip less boring!! Alas the poor convicts are the brunt of the games - in a highly interactive and tastefully humorous way of course!

After dinner, as punishment, the guests will be treated to an evening of intense theatre sports. The group will be divided into teams and the Captain will instruct "the games to commence".

The teams will battle it out to the bitter end for a tot of rum each and a turn for a lap of fresh air on the deck tomorrow. All the while Captain and crew will commentate, assist, hinder and disqualify but most importantly create an entertaining and exciting evening of comedy and mayhem.

 

The Haunted Room

Guests will gather by the fire in the bar downstairs. When the time is right they will be joined by the Tour Director who will lead them on an adventure of mystery.

History has it that before new owners from the mainland took possession of Cradle Mountain Lodge in 1988, the lodge was haunted. After many exorcisms, including changing the name from Pencil Pine Lodge, all ghosts were confined to the one room - the Cradle Room.

Now, for the first time in 10 years, the room is to be unlocked. After explaining these facts to the guests, the guide leads the party up to the room of ghosts. As they reach the stair well, the eerie atmosphere seems to envelope them. The odd cobweb can be seen, through the smoky haze. Greenish lighting will give the effect of impending doom. In hushed but obviously excited tones, the Tour Director gives a running commentary of facts surrounding the mysteries of Cradle Mountain.
